Internship opportunitiy: The Boston Lawyers Group

The Boston Lawyers Group‘s mission is to “support the efforts of its member organizations to identify, recruit, advance and retain attorneys of color.” Its member organizations are law firms and legal organizations in and around Boston.  One of the group’s key programs is aimed at developing the “pipeline” of students of color into the legal profession through an internship, described more fully below:

The BLG’s summer internship program introduces talented college students of color to career opportunities with the legal profession. The program enables students to develop and enhance skills applicable to professional careers in general and introduce them to Boston’s legal community.

BLG Summer Interns work in a law firm, government agency or corporate legal department from June - August.  Each intern’s work assignments are determined by the sponsoring BLG member organization. In addition to the “on the job-experience,” the BLG interns participate in fun and interactive professional development workshops.  Each workshop is designated to give the intern a look into a specific area of the legal profession.  The workshops for the 2012 Summer Program include:

Introduction to Office Etiquette
Boston Area Law School Tours
Mock Law School Class
Resume Review Workshop
Observing a Live Court Trial
Luncheons with Attorneys and Law Students
Day in Court: A Mock Trial Production
